it is amazing th...thank you all for your comments!

it is amazing that we have not been able to enjoy a simple ice cream cone in years until now! I agree Andrea, the packaging is misleading but they are so good and hold their crunch well with ice cream. Andrea, Pilar and I are hooked!

Flavia, I will have Andrea reply to you with answers to your questions. there are great hot chocolate mixes you can buy including a brand called dagoba (see our hot chocolate post under our drink gf tab). hot chocolate from starbucks is also gluten free. we will check on alfredo sauces for you, but I am certain duso's (a local company in the granville island public market and most grocery stores) are safe.

robynrobynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06483053462945853566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5770949892742154963.post-64782597562189913662010-08-23T21:29:04.656-07:002010-08-23T21:29:04.656-07:00Hi Andrea,

Congratulations, you've got a great blog with very usefull information!!!
I'm starting to realize that many things that were not GF there are here and also the other way arround.
Do you know if:
- Hot chocolates from coffe shops are GF? In Brazil they all had malt.
- Naturally Breweed soy sauces are GF? I read that the % of gluten is so small that next year they will get the GF labeel. In Brazil they already are considered GF.
- Alfredo sauces (industrial ones from the grocery shops) are GF? I couldn't find any ingreedient that were gluten.
Thank you,
FlaviaFláviahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08130753198470684818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5770949892742154963.post-32933270637468182862010-08-23T16:28:53.960-07:002010-08-23T16:28:53.960-07:00I haven't had a real ice cream cone in 5 years...I haven't had a real ice cream cone in 5 years. Although I have become used to saying "make mine a cup" without too much distaste in my tone, I still get a twinge of regret when I see those lovely waffle cones piled high at the gelateria.

So. As soon as I saw this post I booted up to Choices at 16th and Macdonald. I was happily surprised to not just have one, but in fact FOUR gf cone options by Goldbaum. I chose the most Waffle cone-esque looking packaging: the Sugar Cone. To be honest, when I opened the box at home with Strawberry Haagen Daz and scoop at the ready, I thought I had been duped. The cones inside are a) not at all the size of those shown on the packaging b) they do not have lovely deeply engraved waffle texture like those on the packaging and c) they are such a different color from the golden brown on the packaging. I would call it....dusty Ivory?

Having said that, these cones, for all their misleading packaging, are exceptional. They have beautiful crunch, great "normal" taste and they gave me the full Ice Cream Cone experience.

I will be back for more. Thank you for the tip!!!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06261009432918525859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5770949892742154963.post-18849669191031454502010-08-17T10:19:29.488-07:002010-08-17T10:19:29.488-07:00Your niece is so adorable! She loves So Delicious chocolate coconut milk ice cream, and now she's in ice cream cone heaven!Jeannienoreply@blogger.com
