wondering what you can do to help support Celiac Disease awareness? there is a contest being run by RiceWorks, the producer of Gourmet Brown Rice Crisps called Show Us Your Goodness, in order to find the charitable organization you find most inspiring. over 500 charities were nominated and the Vancouver Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association is in the running! the grand prize is $20,000, the two semi-finalist prizes are worth $5,000 each, and there are thirty "sponsors choice" prizes worth $1,000 each.

the contest was launched in december 2009, and on march 16th thirty-three semi-finalists were announced, and round two of voting began. this is where you can help! voting is open until april 30th, 2010, simply click on this LINK and select the Canadian Celiac Association—Vancouver Chapter, which is #8 on the list, and VOTE! as you can see we already have close to 3,000 votes and are very close to first place. every vote counts!

the Vancouver Chapter is eager to make use of any financial support in order to promote the awareness of Celiac Disease. they have already been working on a Restaurant Awareness Survey which was funded by a government grant. the results of the survey are going to be published at the BC Food Service Expo which is being held in vancouver on april 25th & 26th. to find out more about the Canadian Celiac Association, how they receive financial support, and what their goals are in using that support please click here.

Jaime, there is another cooking class being held by Choices Market's Executive Chef, italian cooking, and suitable for a gluten free diet, it's in Surrey on May 17th.

There is also the Gluten Free Fair coming up on May 29th/30th in both Vancouver and Surrey, this event is hosted by Choices and the Canadian Celiac Association.
