kudo’s to the westin bayshore..part two

this past friday evening, I finally had the chance to have dinner at the Seawall Bar and Grill restaurant at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver. I couldn’t wait to try out their gluten free menu. I had the great opportunity to speak to the chef who discussed with me how gluten free entrees are prepared in the kitchen. to lower the likelihood of cross-contamination with wheat, all gluten free dishes are prepared separately from other dinner items, and utensils and cutting boards are cleaned prior to food preparation.

the menu has been well received according to the staff, and the idea to develop such a menu was chef inspired, cool! the buns and pizza crusts are all supplied by Kinnikinnick Foods, a dedicated gluten free product line based in Edmonton Alberta. my date and I shared the hawaiian pizza and the grilled sirloin burger. both were excellent, but the burger was unbelievably good! it was such a treat for me (and my date) to be able to order with confidence, and hassle free. better yet, it was so fun to order regular food like burgers and pizza, finally!

the chef pointed out to me that the menu on their website makes reference to white soy sauce in the new york sirloin, and soy sauce is not gluten free (except for Bragg). the revised gluten free menu is currently only available at the restaurant, but as soon as it is updated on their website, we will let you know! all in all it was a great experience and the staff are very knowledgeable and aware of special diets!  Robyn.

Kudos to the Seawall Bar and Grill for offering a GF menu! And it looks simply delicious. I would order the scallops, no...wait...the cobb salad...or hey...look...the goose sounds divine. Gosh...good choices being offered! Glad you had a good time! Another great post and hopefully other's will find out about the Westin Bayshore's progressive step by visiting your blog!

We just visited Vancouver earlier this week and are thankful that your site was quite helpful in finding gluten-free meals.

We dined at Seawall Bar and Grill the first night (Tuesday). The food was delicious! However, our server was horrible. First, when I asked if the burger came with fries - she said yes, if I could tolerate it. I then asked if they were gluten-free and she said no. What? I got salad instead... It took forever for our food to arrive and there were only a few other customers in the restaurant and the service never improved. Too pricey for delicious gf, but terrible wait time for food and service... There were three people in our party - all gf - and we all agreed we wouldn't return.
