‘tis the season to eat chocolate truffles

looking for an extra special sweet treat for your special someone, or even for yourself? look no further! Cocoa Nymph Chocolates & Confections has something for everyone on your list. these bite-sized delectable treats are not only delicious, but they are also handmade, local, and gluten free, well all but one! among the thirteen regular flavors, only the Melissa (honey crunch) contains gluten. currently, there are also eight gluten free Christmas holiday seasonal flavors. my personal favorites are the Winter Whiskey, a dark chocolate ganache favored with whiskey and cinnamon, and the Amy, which has a rich white chocolate and vanilla center and is ‘enrobed’ in more white chocolate.

Rachel Sawatzky, the owner and chocolatier, makes her truffles daily, using all natural ingredients. the truffle flavor combinations are tested until Rachel feels she has achieved taste perfection, in addition to making sure they are aesthetically beautiful. we first learned about Rachel and her fabulous truffles when our sister Heather got married this past summer. Heather asked Rachel to provide her with personal truffle boxes that were placed at each place setting, with each box containing two truffles. it was important to Heather to make sure they were gluten free since she knew ahead of time that six of her guests are gluten intolerant, Robyn and I are two of them. this was one detail that did not go unnoticed by any wedding guest.  (we will have future posts dedicated to planning a gluten free wedding)

while the majority of Cocoa Nymph’s truffles are gluten free, all of the truffles are egg free, and the No-Moo is milk free, Rachel makes this one with coconut milk…yum! some do contain nuts, and all of the chocolate used to make the truffles contains soy.

Rachel can help you put together a personalized gift of truffles for any event or occasion. she can even create custom flavors upon request. yes we know Christmas is just two days away, but we also know many of you, like us, might still be looking for last minute gifts! Cocoa Nymph is open today until 7pm, and on Christmas Eve from 11am to 4pm. her website lists her regular hours, but stay tuned since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and Rachel already has a few special truffle flavors planned, we can’t wait to try them!  Andrea.
